Anyway to use the MCA to turn on the AP in the Dash 8

I can set altitude, vertical speed, etc, but no way to actual turn on the AP that I can see? FD doesn't do it.
Am I missing anything?

Press the CMD button. This will also turn FD and will set the auto-pilot mode to fully ON.
