Air Plugin 6.0.0 released with FS2020 updates!

Posted on September 5, 2023 17:48 by haversine

We're proud to release two new Air plugins under version 6.0 to use with the AirTrack, AirFMC and AirEFB family of Apps.

The X-Plane version 6.0.0 of the Air Plugin introduces many under the hood improvements and changes, brings support for the new version 4.0 of the Zibo 737 plane which uses new dataref structures, and prepares for what's ahead.

But the new kid in town is the MSFS2020 Air plugin which hadn't seen an update since 2021. We bumped its version to 6.0.0 just so that from now on, the X-Plane and FS2020 plugins share a same numbering scheme and go hand in hand in terms of features.

Many things have been fixed in the MSFS 2020 plugin for default planes bringing it in line with newer SimConnect SDK variables and possibilities.

The plugin now also reads the initial flight plan from file (i.e. the one you choose to fly before starting up the plane) and sends it to AirTrack, so it appears on the Navigation Display and is easy to follow. Still, for better results, you might want to switch AirTrack to local mode so that you can edit and update the flight plan from it. Sim updates are not yet possible.

But the major news is the much awaited PMDG 737 NG3 support! As PMDG released the SDK for this family of planes, we've been able to tailor the Air Plugin to these and make it even more capable. AirTrack support has been greatly improved, now providing full MCP control on the 737.

And last but not least, v6 of the FS2020 plugin now supports AirFMC for the PMDG NG3. That's right, you can now use AirFMC with MSFS with these planes too. See the package README file for instructions, particularly the PMDG required lines:

[SDK]
EnableDataBroadcast=1
EnableCDUBroadcast.0=1
EnableCDUBroadcast.1=1

This is all for today, more to come soon,
Fun flights everyone,
