Haversine Forums -> AirTrack - Feature Wish List
Easier navigation of features + moving map display
Awesome product!
Only two items on my wishlist:
1. Redesign how you navigate around the various screens. Right now the MCP button is on the EFIS screen and should really be a top level item. It should just be easier to switch between screens, and the location of view options should be consistent across screens.
2. A moving map would be awesome, especially with the ability to overlay your flight plan on top of IFR or VFR charts.
Thanks,
Jose
Hello, I'd like to say also that this product is just great.
I bought the EFIS-App from Laminar and there is simply no comparison, this App just beats it in every single way!
I'd like to +1 on the easier access to the MCP.
Here are a few ideas:
- I think that waypoints is more akin to EFIS than MCP, so maybe they could be swapped
- Offer the possibility to arrange buttons in the bottom. (Like the iPod app)
- Merge the Charts and Waypoints functions
- Add a 7th button in the bottom for MCP
Thanks!
Sorry for the delay and thanks for the suggestions.
Hum, I wonder if you're talking of the iPad or iPhone version. I presume the iPad?
On the iPad it might be possible to squeeze the MCP on the buttons list on the bottom, on the iPhone/iPod it isn't easily without damaging the interface and it is then becomes a matter of choosing which are the most important to be on the control tab.
Merging charts and waypoints is probably not possible as the way in which they are implemented is very different.
But rearranging things is definitely possible and thanks for the ideas, Perhaps we can swap the MCP and waypoints or something similar. Do you see the waypoints more as an EFIS thing or as an FMC thing?
joao
having MCP on the top level botton list would be great. If there must be botton to be removed may be the Waypoint could go to FMC? But I much prefer to just adding the MCP to the bottom, at least on iPad there is plenty space.
Also it'll be great to make numbers on COMM and MCP easier to adjust. I still prefer to changing numbers by pressing increase/decrease bottons or by turning knobs, much like the FSX way. Also if the diaplay and layout of COMM and MCP can be made more like those in FSX cockpits that'll be fantastic.
Other than these a few points, a great app.
Yeap, the MCP can probably fit in the bottom row on the iPad. Will move it there when possible.
About the COMs dialers, it's funny because before there was an increase/decrease button and although it looked nice, most people complained that it was impractical, and indeed it was, it took a long time to tune a frequency :( So this is why these came into being, and now you can tune a frequency in a couple of seconds. So a trade off between looking like the real thing or being practical to use.
enjoy the app!
I was talking about the iPad version, it will be awesome if you get around moving MCP to the bottom.
I agree about the problem with iPhone / iPod, there's just too much need for information and the space is very constrained.
About if waypoints is more an EFIS thing or an FMC thing, I think that it is useful in both cases. However it's nice to see which waypoints are nearby while in transit, so it's kind of related to EFIS, I've found myself needing to use the "Nearby waypoints" to make a last minute change in the route (-> D button?). While using FMC it is not as useful because you are able to search for them in the NWP dialog.
One more thing about Waypoints... It would be great if there could be a way to assign a VOR or NDB frequency to NAV1 or NAV2 from the waypoint information. Maybe an additional button in the COMMS page similar to the ATC button, only that in this case the list would be populated with nearby VOR and NDBs.
Your app is awesome, it really makes X-Plane way more enjoyable!
Hi Skyfox, it's indeed funny how different people have different preferences... well, how about a compromise that you just add some nice textures, framed windows, buttons/keys etc to make MCP and COMM look more authentic and more like real panels. I know those are pure cosmetic improvement, but they do add a lot to the illusion of playing the real thing, also help to orient the users when they need to look for and change info.
Yeah, you can keep the number change the same way, as a matter of fact I'm kind of getting used to typing the digits directly... how sad...
One more small thing, on the COMM panel the radio freq-switch key is too small, please make it bigger or make touching the active frequency as the same as pressing the key.
Another suggestion is that the displaying of speed, altitude, etc on PFD are too small and too thin. I wonder using bigger and bolder fonts will do much better. It's hard to read the PFD unless the ipad is up close. But when I'm flying it sits a bit further away from me.
I'm enjoying this app more everyday, almost can't fly FSX without it. I bought a goose neck iPad stand just so I can conveniently use Airtrack when I'm flying FSX.
Hello skyfox, just installed the new 3.3 update, thanks a lot. The new location of the MCP button is great!!
Ah, thanks :)
I had meant to write here saying it was out but hadn't got to doing that yet :(
Glad you spotted it :)
