Button to graphically step through plan on MFD

Posted on December 20, 2012 20:48 by kleznik

In the plan screen of the MFD (such as what is shown in the below link to a snapshot), is there a way to graphically step through a route other than jumping back and forth between the EFIS and FMC screens and selecting waypoints?

If not, could a button be added to do so below the "IN" button on the left side of the screen? Or, another hidden option (and very iOS like) would be to swipe left and right across the screen to recenter the display one position forward and backwards. Please do not actually make this advance your position in the flight (that could be bad if you did it by accident while flying), but just recenter the display one point at a time at the current scale. After a minute it could recenter on your current location.

Thanks!

I'm afraid it is not possible at present; the only was is by changing the active leg in the FMC.

But a similar thing has been requested before and it is definitely feasible. So I'll try and make sure that such a button is added for the next version.

Thanks for the suggestion and safe flights,

And a news update; this is now possible with AirTrack 3.5:

" If you want to quickly check if your flight plan has been entered correctly, tap on the mode button (by default set to MAP) to switch to PLN mode. You will now have a new button named STP (stands for STEP) which will toggle the point at the centre of the navigation display through the multiple points in your flight plan. The actual active leg won't be changed by this, it is just a visualization tool to help see the entire flight plan before actually flying it."

happy flying,
